Works great. I've cut dovetails by hand for well over 40 years, and with arthritis really doing a number on my hands now, this is a godsend! Little slippery to hold immobile while sawing though. I plan to adhere some fine grit wet or dry paper to it to make it less so. Great tool!
This jig has made it easy for anyone to do dovetail joints. I highly recommend this product to anyone wanting to improve their dovetail cuts.
Quite good. I learned about guides from David Barron videos. Barron’s guides are okay (I have three—the 1:4, 1:6 and 90) but a magnet fell out of the 1:6. Glued back in place it is no longer flat. The magnet juts out a hair. So I ordered the KM guide as well as a Hongdui guide. The latter has a clever built-in clamp that I like. But it is too tall so I can’t use a Cosman dovetail saw except to start the cut. With the slot perhaps 2-3 mm deep and angled on the tailboard, I switch to the KM guide and complete the cut. With the pinboard I don’t use a guide. Suggestions: 1. A second surface on the KM guide at 10 degrees (1:6). My drawer fronts have a single non-90 degree angle side so it is challenging to use the single 10 degree face due to the asymmetry. 2. The KM guide is slippery and hard to hold in place. 3. I love the clamp on the Hongdui guide. In the best of all possible worlds, I would throw all these guides away and make dovetails like the pros. But I am a hobbyist and I don’t have sufficient time left to practice. BTW, I am finding the KM router plane very useful. Beautiful instrument.
Been slowly gathering the tools to start my dovetail journey. Waiting on a marking gauge and calipers and then I'll be ready. The tool looks and feels good (a little oily, but I cleaned that off). Looking forward to my first attempts.
Works exactly how you would expect it too. Feels good in the hand and looks like something that will last forever.
