Katz-Moses Woodworking is a proud distributor of Suizan Japanese saws. This is the smaller 7 inch Dozuki or Dovetail saw which is my (Jonathan’s) personal economical choice for cutting dovetails. I really like the thick, no slip polypropylene handle that adds weight to the saw, it’s razor thin kerf and sharp edge. Other saws have a bamboo handle which shows dirt easily and makes the saw significantly lighter.
JAPANESE STEEL: All SUIZAN Japanese saws are made of top quality Japanese steel. It uses high quality Japanese steel, which makes cuts to be sharp.
MADE IN JAPAN: All SUIZAN products are manufactured in Japan by Japanese master craftsmen. Suizan has a 100 year old history of making Japanese hand tools.

I have used Japanese style saws before, and really liked cutting on the pull strokes. This Suizan saw cuts better and feels better in my hand than any that I’ve used before. I will use this for dovetails on thin boards with the KM dovetail jig. Since most of my work for now will be on 3/4” walnut and cherry I also purchased the longer folding saw and really like it too.
...but if I did, I would use this saw( creepy, ominous music commences) This saw has a great combination of of rigidity and mobility that makes cutting dove tails smooth and easy. I find it holds a true line and glides through the cuts with minimal effort. The hand fits nicely in the hand and its compact footprint makes for easy storage. Couldn't be happier... well, except if it just cut the Dove tails for me... that would make me happier.
I have the Suizan cross-cut/rip saw and love it so I knew the quality on this saw would be great and it did not disappoint. The smaller teeth and spine allow for really accurate cuts for dovetails and smaller pieces in general.
This dovetail saw cuts a fine, straight kerf. I used it with the KM dovetail jig to cut large dovetails in 6-quarter oak. The saw and jig worked well, and frankly, I was surprised and impressed that the saw cut the oak like butter! Recommend both without reservation.
This saw was exactly what I needed for my projects
