The Katz-Moses Magnetic Dovetail jig is made in a mold from a virtually indestructible clear polyurethane for years of use. This is the same material used to make pool balls so you know how strong the jig is. It is then laser etched on the top and bottom for clean and easy to read labeling. The magnets have 10 lbs of pulling pressure to hold your saw firm to the jig. It also functions as a 90 degree crosscut guide which is a unique feature to the Katz-Moses Magnetic Dovetail Jig.

    Great jig but easily scratched

I’ve only used the jig a couple of times and it seems great. I’ve left it as a 5 star review because what I’m going to say is more likely just down to my own inexperience using such tools. I use a Japanese saw that has teeth on both sides, if that makes sense. So it has with the grain cutting teeth and against the grain cutting teeth, on the same blade. So in getting to different cutting angles and once I get deep into the cut, the ripping teeth scratch against the side of the jig. I’ve even cut into the jig itself but that’s just user error I guess. It’s taken me some time to get used to it. In fact I’ve just realised I could glue a thin piece of plastic onto it to protect the jig and keep me from scratching it away from true. I honestly think it’s a good tool and once I get more experience with it I’ll come to love it. Arrived quickly, fair price, great follow up having the chance to give this feedback.

    Dovetail Jig

Excellent results, would like more info on using UHMW PE tape to protect jig, maybe tape should be included.

    Worked well

Using a Japanese pull saw for cutting box and dovetail joints, this added much stability and therefore accuracy to my cuts. Be aware that the depth of your cut may be affected by the spine on your saw. This is well worth the money.
