The Katz-Moses Magnetic Dovetail jig is made in a mold from a virtually indestructible clear polyurethane for years of use. This is the same material used to make pool balls so you know how strong the jig is. It is then laser etched on the top and bottom for clean and easy to read labeling. The magnets have 10 lbs of pulling pressure to hold your saw firm to the jig. It also functions as a 90 degree crosscut guide which is a unique feature to the Katz-Moses Magnetic Dovetail Jig.

    Dovetail Guide

So far I like it. I have cut about (8) dovetails using it, everyone better than the last. I think it is a great training tool.

    Don't draw, cut

I have a $50 dovetail marker and would never part with it. But it sees use mostly with half-blinds. Reason: for through dovetails, I don’t need to mark lines. The KM guide’s got that covered. I mark depth lines, mark the tail locations with a pair of dividers, then set the saw and guide at those marks and cut to depth. Likewise pins. I knife in the lines off the tail board then cut. No need to draw the vertical lines, just cut them. The KM dovetail guide saves time. I bought the guide a few years ago. It still works as advertised. But I recently bought a back-up guide because, like the dovetail marker, I never want to be without one.

    Dovetail jig

It makes cutting dovetails much easier. My vision isn’t as good as it used to be so I can use all the help I can get.

    6:1 improved DT jig review

Works great and the magnets are stronger than before. I never had a problem with the prior urethane mode, or even the original wooden one holding the saw, but this one with its more powerful, larger magnets gives a more positive click and feel when the saw attaches. Better is good. Thanks.
