THE BUILD UP INITIATIVE

HELP US MAKE WOODWORKING ACCESSIBLE TO ALL

For many woodworkers with disabilities, workholding and moving objects around the shop presents a challenge.

The Build Up Initiative aims to deliver devices that assist with workholding so woodworking can truly be accessible to all — whether it's as a hobby or a full-time career.

For a more in-depth look at the initiative and the projects, check out our blog.

HOW IT WORKS

We've developed plans for three projects that assist with workolding in the shop. Volunteer woodworkers can build these devices — then deliver them to woodworker with disabilities who would benefit from their use.

It's a mission by woodworkers, for woodworkers...

And we need your help.

LOW COMBINATION WORK HORSE

GANTRY CRANE WITH ELECTRIC HOIST

MICRO-WORKBENCH WITH ONE-HANDED VISE

ARE YOU A WOODWORKER WITH A DISABILITY WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM ONE OF THESE DEVICES?

APPLY AS A RECIPIENT

If you are a woodworker with a disability and would benefit from one of these devices, apply as a recipient. If you know someone who would be a perfect canditate for the Build Up Initiative, contact our director to nominate a potential recipient.

THE PROJECTS

If you'd like to volunteer to build and donate a project, purchase the plans for the project below.

For the Micro-Workbench with One-Handed Vise, you can purchase either the physical templates (which come with the digital plans) or the digital plans alone (which include full-size printable templates).

If you build the Gantry Crane, we will send the electric hoist directly to the recipient.

Once the recipient recieves your build, we'll send you a tax-deductible receipt for the predetermined value of the project (which includes materials and time).
