The Problem

Wood moves. Your cuts shouldn't.

Wooden miter runners expand, contract, and introduce slop. That slop compounds into error across every cut you make — shoulders that don't close, miters that drift, sleds that suddenly don't square up in August.

The Katz-Moses Miter Rail eliminates that problem entirely. One expandable aluminum rail, bearing-guided, with indexing pins that keep your jigs accurate for life.

Why it works

Four things no wooden runner can do.

FIG. 01
01 — Zero slop, every season

A fit that doesn’t move when your shop does.

Bearing-guided expansion locks the rail into any standard miter slot with a perfectly consistent fit — humidity, temperature, seasons, none of it matters. Your sled tracks the same in July as it does in January.

FIG. 02
02 — 80% less friction

It’s like your jig is on ice skates.

Four (or six) precision bearings ride against the walls of your miter slot instead of dragging wood across steel. The result: a glide so smooth the rail replaces two wooden runners, and your sled moves with a finger.

FIG. 03
03 — Ultra-indexing pins

Pull it off. Move it. Reinstall. No loss of squareness.

Threaded thumbtack-style locating pins register your plywood base so precisely you can remove the rail from one jig, mount it on another, and come back later without ever re-squaring. Nothing wooden can do this.

FIG. 04
04 — 1/4"-20 Threaded Holes

Bolt on handles, knobs, or a dial indicator.

Threaded holes run the length of the rail so you can attach a stop block, handle, hold-down, or a dial indicator for tuning your saw. One platform, unlimited jigs.

Specifications

The details, measured.

COMPATIBILITY CHECK
Measure the width and depth of your miter slot. If the walls are smooth (no tabs) and your slot is between 0.69"–0.837" wide and at least 0.315" deep, you're good to go.
Available lengths 8" or 20"
Material 6061 aluminum, anodized red
Threaded holes 1/4"-20 along full length
Minimum slot width 0.69"
Maximum slot width 0.837"
Slot depth 0.315"
In the box Miter rail, assembly screws
Compatibility Fits most table saws, bandsaws, router tables. Not compatible with tabbed miter slots (some Ryobi / Craftsman jobsite saws).

Installation

Five minutes. Five steps.

No precise hole drilling from the top. No super glue squeeze-out. No guesswork. Our custom thumbtack-style indexing pins register your sled base perfectly every time.

STEP 01 / 05
One rail, every jig

Build better, faster, for the rest of your woodworking life.

The rail works on a table saw, bandsaw, or router table — and because you can move it between jigs without losing accuracy, one rail can power an entire shop.

Jonathan's Hot Take

“3 years. 11 factories. 75 samples. 500+ test jigs. One of the hardest things we've ever designed — and I've never been more proud.”

If you've ever wrestled with a runner that's too tight, too loose, or somewhere in between depending on the season — this is the fix. And it's the last one you'll ever need.

What I'm most proud of is the indexing pin system. Pull a rail off a jig, move it somewhere else, put it back, and not lose accuracy? That's never existed before. For woodworkers building multiple jigs in tight shops, that's a big deal.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

The rail fits any smooth-walled standard miter slot between 0.69" and 0.837" wide and at least 0.315" deep — which covers the vast majority of table saws, bandsaws, and router tables. It does NOT fit slots with tabs (some Ryobi and Craftsman jobsite saws). Measure your slot before you order.
No — that's the point. One miter rail replaces the pair of wooden runners you'd normally glue into a sled. Less wood to mill, no seasonal movement, and a consistent glide.
Yes. The indexing pins let you pull the rail, mount it on a different jig, and come back later without re-squaring. That's never been possible with wooden runners.
The 20" rail is our best-seller and the right call for a full-size crosscut sled on a cabinet saw. The 8" works great for small-parts sleds, tenon jigs, and compact job-site saws.
