Katz-Moses Woodworking is a proud distributor of Suizan Japanese saws. This is the folding Ryoba Double Sided Hand Saw. This is my (Jonathan’s) personal favorite for all around hand sawing. I really like the weight of the saw and the fact you can do rip cuts along the grain (large tooth side) and cross grain cuts (fine tooth side). It folds neatly away to protect the edge and save space on your bench. I also really like the thick, no slip polypropylene handle that adds weight to the saw, it’s razor thin kerf and sharp edge. Other saws have a bamboo handle which shows dirt easily and makes the saw significantly lighter.
JAPANESE STEEL: All SUIZAN Japanese saws are made of top quality Japanese steel. It uses high quality Japanese steel, which makes cuts to be sharp.
MADE IN JAPAN: All SUIZAN products are manufactured in Japan by Japanese master craftsmen. Suizan has a 100 year old history of making Japanese hand tools.

It feels mighty in your hands and the click when you open or close it is highly satisfying. I like it better than the one Lee Valley sells. Both cut really well, but this one feels better in your hand because of the handle's heft.
As a first-time woodworker, I needed a saw that was good for pretty much everything, bulgur at a decent price. This saw proved to be excellent! Easy to use and creates very fine cuts at good speeds.
I actually bought this saw to replace an old one of the same. First the old one was great as well, until I broke the metal piece that locks the saw in open position, apparently from vibration. The new saw performs just as well as the old one but I like the handle of the old one better, it was just nicer looking and better feeling. The fact that the saw folds is fantastic for storage and transport. I recommend this saw for light work, but for longer rips it it less than ideal, although in some woods it works beautifully no matter the length of the cut. Anyway I recommend it, I’d buy it again, but I’m also looking at panel saws.
Great saw and addition to my shop. I seem to be reaching for it more and more.
Works great...Fit and finish aren't quite those of an heirloom tool. That said, I did by a second saw for my son because of its low cost and high functionality.
