Honing Guided Sharpening System with Extra Large Brass Roller is a simple-to-use tool that will assist you in securely holding wood chisels and plane irons at the correct angle to the sharpening stone.
This is so much better than those cheap sandwich sharpening guides with the small roller!
Made from aluminum, this sharpening jig has an extra wide roller to ensure your sharpening is square to the blade without any rocking as you roll back and forth.
With notched hash marks it is east to sharpen any of your straight, skewed and works with extra large to extra small blades.
Tips:
When you receive the guide remove the clamping mechanism completely. Take the backing off the rubber adhesive and stick to it to the removable clamping mechanism. Use the screws to locate it and clamp it down to make the rubber stick to the moveable piece more securely.
Use your combo square to check for square on the leading edge and use the hash marks for center locating and quick alignment
To set different angles of skew chisels you can use a bevel gauge to reference the skew in the chisel.

It worked, as advertised, far better than other similar items due to the quality of the design and the materials. The wide roller was especially good.
good jig but I'm not sure about the design for the board for setting up the jig
Using a verity if sharpening jigs has forced me to be a recognized expert in how NOT to do it. This is one product that works. It holds chisels better than most other jigs I've used, is simple and effective.
This is my first sharpening jig so please take this review with a grain of salt. The quality is fine except the black plastic part was somewhat malformed but I was able to sand it flat. My major issue is with the setup block drawing that was provided as a pdf file. It says to place the black plastic against the setup block but if you do that then you can't slide the jig sideways to ensure the blade is 90 degrees to the jig because the bottom part of the middle 1/2"x1/2" wood strip is in the way of the protruding aluminum part of the jig. I think I'm going to cut off the lower 1/2" or so of the middle wood strip so the jig can slide over and the blade can make contact with the wood strip.
A huge improvement over the popular narrow-wheel guide, and produces an even bevel square with the chisel or plane. Still needing work: a) It’s too deep front to back and many chisels don’t fit for a 23 degree bevel. b) Very fiddly to square the tool with the guide while tightening it down. Including a very simple and shallow try square would help. c) although the rubber grip strip is effective, a narrow chisel can rotate out of square unless you use a pliers to wind down the (small) knurled brass nuts. Still a big and affordable step up.
