It has interchangeable brass and plastic heads so you can pound on different materials without damaging them — and comes with its own carrying case and adjustment tools.

The KM-18 was designed with functionality and heavy use in mind. But we decided to make it jaw-droppingly gorgeous as well.

This is our second tool release in collaboration with Hongdui Tools, who I consider one of the best tool makers of our time — and I couldn’t be prouder of the results.

Note on Brass Heads: Over time, the solid brass heads of the mallet will naturally patina. This creates a really nice look a lot of people find desirable. You can prevent this by coating the heads with lacquer or polyurethane, but a quick online search will give you more ideas.

I’ve been hinting at this for a long time… but the KM-18 Woodworking Mallet is finally available in our store.

Striking the perfect balance between size and weight (stop it), this bad puppy is small enough to fit in your apron — but hefty enough to pound with power (seriously, stop).

It’s ergonomically ideal, functionally precise, and aesthetically jaw-dropping. Sweet cheez-its, I’m running out of adverbs.

COMPACT SIZE

At 4.75” long and 2.5” wide at the head, the KM-18 is small enough to fit in your apron pocket — or dangle from any hammer loop.

POWERFUL WEIGHT

The tool weighs a whopping 25.4 oz (nearly 1.6 lbs). You get a TON of force with each blow, meaning more efficient chisel work and joinery assembly.

 

INTERCHANGEABLE BRASS AND PLASTIC HEADS

The mallet heads can be switched between brass and plastic heads (2 of each included). This lets you wallop on different materials without messing them up. I like keeping one plastic and one brass head attached so I can pick my poison based on the task.

EYE-CATCHING DESIGN

With a glimmering brass and steel head and a glassy smooth beech handle, the KM-18 will easily be the prettiest tool in your shop.

WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH THE KM-18 MALLET

CHISEL WORK

The concentrated weight lets you efficiently hammer the backs of chisels with maximum control. You’ll have hollowed out mortises in no time — and the brass heads won’t damage the chisels like a steel hammer would.

ASSEMBLING JOINERY

Attach one of the plastic heads to knock together dovetails and other joinery. It still delivers a punch but won’t mar the surface of the wood.

TOOL ADJUSTMENT

Aligning your table saw tabletop or the blade on an old hand plane? The plastic heads and concentrated weight make this the perfect mallet for adjusting your tools.
