The Katz-Moses Universal Sharpening Jig allows you to sharpen virtually any width chisel or plane iron, no matter if they are skewed or straight edged. All without cumbersome attachments. This jig embodies our motto, innovation through simplicity. You won’t find another jig that lets you get repeatable results with every blade, every angle, every time.

The jig comes with a removable magnetic fence for setting common edge angles like 90°, 45°, and 35°. The fence can also be used as a fulcrum to easily set up repeatable angles on any skewed blade.

The swing arm has two built-in shelves, making it super simple to set and sharpen a bevel at 25° or 30°. Each jig also comes with a clip-on attachment that lets you register a full range of angles between 20°–35° **. Just push the blade up against the corresponding shelf, tighten the brass thumb screws, and get to sharpening.

Thumb registers on the back of the swing arm make it a joy to hold, and the wide brass roller ensures the jig won’t tilt while you’re trying to sharpen. Place your pointer fingers on top of the brass thumb screws for the most ergonomic grip of any sharpening jig out there.

Jonathan’s Hot Take

This jig has totally changed my sharpening game, and I think it will for you too. I was so tired of the fiddly setup required with other sharpening jigs, plus all of the goofy attachments out there for trying to sharpen a skew or small chisel. We put so many hours into this product, trying to solve a problem that many others haven’t been able to.

With this jig, I can sharpen the narrowest chisels out there. And the wide roller makes it just as easy to sharpen wider blades like plane irons.

The built-in shelves ensure I don’t need a bunch of set up jigs lying around to find the right angle, and the magnetic fence makes it super easy to stay straight when sharpening, or switch to a skew angle in less than a second.

The jig is designed to be incredibly ergonomic. The thumb registers allow you to cantilever the blade instead of putting force on the cutting tool. The large brass thumb screws double as a finger rest, which allows you to keep your fingers off the cutting tool. Saves you from cuts, blisters, and a hell of a mess.

One of my favorite bonus features is that you can use the magnetic fence as a fulcrum to easily set up any angled skew blade for perfect repeatable results. Much like a starter pin on a router table, it makes it so you only need to worry about lining up the cutting edge. No need to awkwardly hold the blade in place as you find your bevel angle.

If you’re tired of wasting time on sharpening, and want to get back to making cool sh*t, then you’re going to want this jig.
