KM Tools Tool-less Countersink

Quantity:

Introducing the first ever tool-less countersink. With this patent-pending design, simply release the magnetic lock ring and twist to set your depth. With 10 indexable stops per rotation, you can accurately adjust your countersink by as little as .1mm (1/320th of an inch).

Indices on the side of the countersink allow you to set and return to repeatable depths—a huge win for woodworkers who care about accuracy. The depth stop is made of anodized aluminum and spins freely on high quality 6701-zz sealed and greased ball bearings, ensuring it won’t ever mar your work piece.

The best part? This countersink is NOT a consumable like many others. Both the drill bit and the carbide cutters are replaceable. Simply loosen the countersink bit by hand or with a small straight tool. Then loosen the drill bit retention screw near the base of the countersink to remove the drill bit. Replace them individually or as a pair.

Currently, the KM Tools countersink is available in ⅜” x 3mm, but ¼” x 2mm and ½” x 3.5mm counter bores and drill bits are available for preorder. You can also preorder replacement cutters for the included stock size. All bits are interchangeable, and with a max depth of ⅜”, you can cut tight fitting plugs with ease.

Note: Customers who order at launch will receive the Katz-Moses Counter Sink now and the preordered bits separately in 6–8 weeks.

We also sized the threads so any replacement countersink with a ¼”-28 thread will fit. This allows you to easily switch between counter bores for wood, aluminum, and steel—great for counter boring holes you’ve already drilled. Check out McMaster-Carr for a variety of specialty counter bores that fit with a max width of ½”.

Jonathan’s Hot Take

I’m so pumped about this new addition to our tool lineup. For years, the market has been flooded with cheap countersinks that aren’t easily adjustable. On top of that, they wear out after a few uses.

This countersink has changed the game. Not only can I make adjustments within 1/320th of an inch, but the indices on the side let me really easily set and return to specific depths, over and over again. Try doing that with any other countersink. In fact, I’ve included a chart in the instruction manual that will get you really close to perfect on a screw sized from #3 – #16. Yes, that includes trim head screws as well.

And it’s so damn easy. Just pull up on the magnetic lock ring, twist, and release. BOOM. Done. No little specialty wrenches to keep up with, just to change the depth.

Everything from tiny brass screws, to fine finish trim head screws, to large socket head cap screws—this countersink does it all accurately. I also love that it makes cutting clean holes for plugs super easy. Check out my favorite plug cutters here.

The depth stop is non-marring, of course. The wide chip ejection openings make it easy to view when drilling, and chip removal is a breeze.

It was really important to me when designing this that it didn’t end up in your trashcan after a handful of uses. We’ve built this thing to last, and that includes replaceable carbide cutters and bits. Not only does that make this a lifetime tool, but it allows you to switch out the standard ⅜” bit for other sizes (¼” and ½” available for preorder!)

Score this little guy, and it’ll be the last countersink you’ll ever need.
